Protecting CDs from physical harm

Here in Crete at my daughter's school, we teach English to Greek children. As a classroom aid, we create lots of CDs and, in the classroom environment, they get lots of mishandling. When I got my new spectacles, they were given a coating to prevent scratches. Is there anything I can do to protect a CD to make it last a bit longer?

Its a hard one but http://www.d-skin.com/ sold http://www.amazon.com/Skin-Pack-GAME-Not-Machine-Specific/dp/B0002MHF2W

I just copy as an iso file to a hard drive and burn a new one as required

I've seen the ISO file option in Nero but I don't know what it is, how to use it and why. The re-burn is the only option I have at the moment but my source is the original .wav or .mp3 files. How would ISO help?

you could burn straight from the original file

however I was thinking you had made up a CD from lots of files

an iso file is effectively an image of a CD or DVD and thus saves you having to lcate all the original files again.

About ten years ago I used a cd labelling device similar to the one in this link:-

http://www.amazon.co.uk/PressIt-Lite-CD-Labelling-Kit/dp/B0007N52JE/ref=sr13?ie=UTF8&qid=1349977015&sr=8-3

I was able to print titles on the paper with MS Word, before using the simple applicator to stick the self-adhesive labels centrally on to the cd/dvd.

The paper label protects the upper surface of the disc.

Sorry johnincrete; Double post due to 'Site Error' while attempting to post.

Aitchbe: It's the recording side I want to protect. Looks as if I can't without lots of extra cost so I'll carry on re-recording as required.

Thanks all
