Protected files on a slave?

I'm having a bit of trouble with XP and password protected files. On my other computer I've got a hard drive that won't boot into XP properly. I ran the drive on this system and it works fine. I could see all the files on the drive - except the ones in the password protected my documents. I now want to write all these files onto a cd-r so I can format the drive.

However I can't do that cos the files are password protected - even though I'm the user using a password. I can't boot onto the drive and use an administrator account so how can i acess these files?

Don't know if it will work, but try setting up a new admin account and use the password that you used on the machine that the drive came from.
