Protect Cells in Excel

Can I protect individual cells in Excel or only a complete worksheet. I have a Chess League results and tables which are updated by a friend then e mailed to me for inclusion in our website. Wanted to prevent cells with formula being acidently erased.

What you have to do is:

1. Select the cells that you do NOT want to select, Format/Cells, Protection tab and untick Locked and Hidden.

2. Tools/Protection, Protect sheet.

"that you do NOT want to PROTECT" I mean.

All done. Was confused as I think in older excel's or Lotus 123 you protected cells individually.
