Promise ultraTX2 board

I have an ultra TX2 board fitted in my computer, which gives an additional 2 EIDE ports, one I use for a hard drive, and the other for a CD writer.
For some reason, the CD drive, which used to work perfectly, now causes the PC to hang whenever a disc is inserted (even an audio CD).
Everything appears correct from the driver details etc.
My other 2 DVD/CD writers (on the mainboard connectors) work ok.
I have recently upgraded to Nero 6.6 (from 5.5), and wonder if this could be a problem. I have tried reverting back to 5.5, but nero seems to leave some files in the registry.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
PS. If I try and run the Nero utility for information, the PC resets.

Apparently, PCI boards with extra IDE ports are renowned for causing problems with optical drives (ref "CDfreaks" website).
I have now cured my problem by downloading a later Bios from Promise and also a later driver.
