Programs at Start Up

I seem to have several programs which begin running whenever I start up my computer, and which I only wish to use as and when I require them. How can I limit the number of such always running programs - whilst, of course, keeping the essential ones going?

Run.Type in msconfig.Go to startup at the top.Untick any that you dont want to run at start up.Advisable to keep your security programs ticked. You will then have to reboot. When you do a box will open up just tick the square.Ok and that will stop it showing again. You can always reverse the action if you want to put any back on.

Do as buteman says, all you need running are your antivirus and firewall.
