realplayer has set itself as my default media player and can't find how to change it im running windows 2000 thanks for your help

get rid of it and install realalternative click here

realplayer will attempt to take over almost every media type available

the above does everything rp does, including bbc video/audio

I'll tell you how to do it on XP, hopefully Windows 2000 is similar. Click START, CONTROL PANEL, FOLDER OPTIONS, FILE TYPES find the files you want another program to open eg click on MP3 and click CHANGE and set whatever program you want to open the file. Unfortunatly you will have to do it with each file realplayer has taken over. The other alternative is to delete realplayer, then when you click on a file windows will prompt you for an action because realplayer won't be there or it will automatically make media player the default again, I'm not sure which.
