I have 2 hard drives in my computer and i would like to set the default installing folder (Program files) to be moved into the other hard drive and keep the os on the current 1. Is there A way of setting it as the default program installing folder so that when i install a program it will automaticly be set to install to that folder. I am using windows xp pro sp2.
I have already done this to the My documents folder by right clicking on it from the start menu and changing the directory but u cannot do this with the program files folder.

Go to Start, Run and type regedit. Navigate to registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion In the right pane, right-click ProgramFilesDir and Modify it to the drive of your choice, e.g. D\Program Files.

what about all of the files installed will they get deleted or will they get moved

Changing the registry key will only install new prograams there, not existing ones. If you want everything, except Windows, on a drive other than C you will have to uninstall them and reinstall them.
