Processor Upgrade

I have a MSI Motherboard MS-6380 K7T266 Pro2 I am upgrading the chip from a 1.333 Thunderbird to a XP 2100 Palomino 1.73 does the bios Auto pick up on the processor or is there a driver to enable the change............????? Any help would be appreciated........Thanks

the bios will,but you will probaley need to update your present bios to enable the new processor to work on your system.

If it is 266 it should work however check with the board Manufacturer site. Only thing is that what I have found with short search is that it only takes up to 1800xp+ It may go higher with a BIOS update you will have to check

are you sure your mobo will take a xp2000 according to specs it will omly take 1.5 click here

Thanks Rayuk for taking the time to reply as far as I know I have all the updates and if this is so will it auto update the bios and boot records...or does it have to be typed into the bios manually i.e Athlon XP 1.73Ghz.

All you have to do is instal the cpu and boot up it should recognise it without any input from you.
