Processor Speed

When my machine boots up, the info says that it had a Pentium 3 processor. Additionally, the sticker on the outside of the box says pentium 3. However, in System in the Control Panel, it says Pentium 2.

Is there a reason for this? Has someone swapped them? Can I resolve this?

That showed Pentium III. So what speed is my PC running and how do I tell it that I have a Pentium III and not a Pentium II?

Anyone help?

if you run xp, go to my computer and look at system information then the general tab there it tells you the cpu speed and the amount of ram you have.

My Computer says PII, the scan I ran and my startup says PIII.

Can anyone help me understand or resolve this?
