Problems with Win 2000 Pro HDD move

  GlobalPC 14:08 23 Aug 03

I am trying to move my HDD from an old PC to a new one. It runs Win 2000 Pro. I realise I will need to install all mb stuff, but I can't get Win 2000 to run at all. It starts OK then halts with a blue screen.

I have even restored a Norton Ghost image to a brand new HDD and that halts in the same place. If I set it up as a slave and boot off a different disk, the HDD is fully accessible as D drive. If I swap it back to the old PC it works perfectly.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

GlobalPC, is the blue screen a blue screen of death? If it is what is the error message is displays.

If not then this may be a DOS problem.
