After a disaster of Titanic proportions, I lost XP as my os. I then loaded Win2000 which found some of my software and drivers, but I have no sound and can't remember what the original soundcard was. Can anyone help please

Is the sound from an intergrated sound card on your motherboard or from a PCI sound card. If it is from a PCI sound card, remove the card and look for some identification on the board or on one of the chips, then do a search for that using Google, it should hopefully give you what kind of card you have.

Cheers
