problems with sending attachments using gmail from a Mac

He friend is an artist in her mid-80s and needs to be able to send pdf and jpeg files as attachments. She only uses Macs and Gmail. I am trying to help her sort out her problem although I have no knowledge of Macs. I am visiting her in March so need some advice on how to fix this. When she attaches a file (pdf or jpeg) and sends the email, the recipient gets only a small .webloc file (tiny size) with 'preview' in the file name. I am guessing this is something in her Mac settings and am looking for easy instructions to follow, to put this right. Thanks for any help you can give. Julia
