Problems running Power Director 5 editing software

I would be very grateful if anyone would be able to help with this problem.

I have an Advent 7109B (Celeron M) laptop, and have just bought a JVC camcorder - model GZ-MG 130EK. It came with Cyber Link Power Cinema NE for Everio software, including PowerDirector 5 NE Express which should allow editing of videos.

I can back up video files to the PC ok, and load them and the software recognises there is a video file saved, however, when I try drag a clip from the Library to the workspace for editing, I receive "PowerDirector has encountered a problem and needs to close". It happens at this point every time.

I have tried re-installing the software but it makes no difference.

I assume the PC CPU etc requirements are ok as it lets me successfully install the software? Is there a setting I need to change?

Really grateful for any help / advice anyone may have!!
