Problems playing audio CD's

  ptmac 22:29 14 Mar 03

After reformatting my hard drive I have managed to get everything back up and running apart from my audio cd's. All sounds are working and mp3's will play fine from the hard drive. However, when I try to play audio CD's they run but no sound comes out of the speakers. This happens in both Media Player and Musicmatch Jukebox. Looking in the device manager everything seems to be fine. I am running Windows 98SE.

Any help in rectifying this problem would be greatly appreciated.

If you cd player does not have an audio cable going from it to the hard drive, then do this.

Go to control panel, multimedia, cd music and then tick the box half way down on the left.C\d music playback or similar.

Oh dear, that should of course say an audio cable going to the sound card.

I ticked the box which reads "Enable digital CD audio...." and all is well.
