Problems opening PDF's

  kumo22 20:04 26 Sep 07

I seem to have developed a problem viewing pdf's. When a pdf is available to view in a website I can't view it, however I can download it and then view it without any problems.

I don't know whether this might be the settings in Adobe or something else.

Any suggestions please?

I think if you go into the preferences section and look for option for pdf to show in your browser or similar check the box and restart your browser then the next time you click on a pdf link within a web page your A/reader will open in its own window, you'll have to forgive my vague recollection as I no longer use this reader.

Thank you everyone.

The settings in both Adobe and IE seem to be enabled other than I can't update the Active X.

What role does the Active X play?

What seems to be happening is that when I click to view the pdf all I get is a blank page.

I will also take a look at the suggested alternatives

Thank you,

If this is where the problem lies, how do I overcome it?

I've resolved it thanks.

I deleted the Adobe Reader, re-loaded it and it works fine.
