Problems with McAfee virus scan

Whenever I start up my computer, my McAfee virus scan, which is meant to load on start up, won't load due to a 'library file AVSYNCH.DLL which is missing or outdated'. I can't run the program anymore and I've tried to reinstall it, only to find it stops halfway through. Trying to uninstall, using the Add/Remove Programs function doesn't work either. Should I just delete the files manually and get a new antivirus program?

DO NOT REMOVE THEM MANUALLY !!!!

The McAfee virus scan is a good one. If you visit their US support site click here and opt for an internet chat session with one of their technicians they are excellent.

I had a problem once with my laptop and I had to remove viruscan manually and re-install. They sent me the upgrade files remotely with full instructions. Excellent service but be warned the initial connection time to reach an assistant can be 20 minutes or more.

Alternatively browse their support site and find the instructions to remove your version of viruscan from your operating system. This will involve editing the registry so back it up first!
