Problems installing memory

I have just fitted a new block of 512mb of ram. I bought it from the maker of my computer so i know it is the right type. I beleive i have fitted it correctly as the two clips snapped into place. My problem is that windows xp is not recognising it. It still says i have 512mb which is my original memory.

Any ideas would be welcome

regards Alan

How old is the PC? Could be that the motherboard doesn't accept more than 512MB.

It is also possible that the module doesn't work. Can you try it on its own?

Go to click here and run their system scan which will tell you how much RAM each slot will take.

Thanks for the reply

The comp is only a few months old, haven't tried it on its own yet will do that and also try memory in different slot.

did a scan at crucial and it said i could put another 512 in.
