Problems with the Gainward GForceFX 5900 Ultra/120

  slickpaul 13:01 23 Sep 03

I have purchased a Gainward GforceFX 5900 Ultra/1200 graphics card to replace my GForce4 TI4600. The rest of my system is AMD 2000XP, 512MB memory, Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard. I am running WindowsXP pro with SP1 installed.

I uninstalled the drivers for the TI4600 shutdown the computer, removed the TI4600 and inserted the FX 5900. When I switched the computer on the monitor had multiple pink bands down the screen. The computer completed the POST and started to load Windows. After the boot screen the monitor went into standby mode and the computer rebooted.

Any help that you can give me would be much appreciated

You don't mention if you connected the new card to its own power supply or if you installed the drivers for the card. Your power supply may not be enough for this card.

The card is connected to the power supply and i have a 450w power supply.
