Problems formatting new hard drive

  tankgirlsmum 12:09 31 Aug 03

Have just installed a new hdd, partitioned ok, but am now stuck- the startup disk starts fine, but when I type in Format C: /S at the prompt it comes up as bad file name.
Any ideas please?

just type format c: as the /s switch was discontinued in Millenium Edition or use a 98 startup disk which will copy the system files to the HDD...

Thanks Bez, tried these suggestions: still comes up with bad file name when using me startup disk, also tried using a win98 one - this starts off ok, but then stops saying some thing about an invalid media type reading drive C/this computer has no valid information???
I hope that I must be missing something obvious?

Use your Win set up to format C: drive, you can format other partitions through Windows when you are up and running.
