problems with dual boot pc

Hi all,

I had a dual boot machine with windows 98 and win xp pro.
i have formatted the disk with win xp pro on but it has dropped the ntlder onto my 98 disk.
I can now not boot from this disk as it is looking for that file and it no longer remains.
i will not and dont want to format this disk for various reasons so does anybody know how to stop it looking for this file?

i had xp on d:
i then formatted that disk and went back to 98
it then pops up with ntlder is missing or a similiar filename

OK. Misread your post. You have formatted XP and installed 98. Boot with a Win98 startup disk and issue the command "SYS C:". This will
install the correct boot sector, that will load Win98.
