ive recently bought a computer and its running xp pro'.
i keep getting this msg on switching on my pc.

windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt.
\windows\system32\config\system
you can attempt to repair this file by strating windows using the orginal set up up cd.
select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

ive folowed the instructions inserted the cd it works fine and the system starts. then if shut down the pc turn the power off compltely at the mains then restart my pc the problem happens again.
any ideas???.
thanks in advance

If the machine is new, get your supplier to sort things out for you. It is their, not your, responsibility to provide a machine that does as it is supposed to do.

have you carried out a repair?

to do a quick repair

go to start>run and type sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and /)
