Problem using search in Windows XP

  jpark2 15:17 29 Nov 03

After using the services feature in msconfig to locate a freezing fault, I am now left without a search facility. There is just nothing after trying to activate search (the Start button remains depressed for a short time only).
I have checked that I am allowed to search in my profile and the registry has been checked. A search can be carried out using the administrator logon in Safe mode.
Anybody help please?

erm right click on taskbar and properties. then start menu and customize and advanced tab, and see if search is ticked as show.

Check event viewer and report the errors...

Task Bar properties show that the search function is "ticked" and the Event Viewer does not show any record of the search attempt. Thanks for the help, I will have to resort to System Restore.

System Restore only shows one restore point for this month and will not let me move back into October! The one point is not back far enough.
