problem sending email

Hi all. my problem is; i can receive emails ok via my ' email account but i can't send? after pressing send i get an error message which reads; 'message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. Account Server net protocol smtp server responce '550 5.7.1, Relaying not allowed if you are an orange customer, please use smtp authentication. Port 25 secure (ssl): No server error: 550, error no+0x800ccc79'
I used to run this email address on ME o/s, am now using xp pro.
any advise appreciated...Regards to all.

It may be XP's firewall that is stopping your email?

Assuming the you are using Outlook Express, go to Tools > Accounts > Properties (of the ISP you are using) tab > Servers tab.

Under SMTP server properties check the box 'My server requires authentication'.
