Problem Printing from Word

Hi
I'm running Office 2003 and have been for a couple of years without problem. My printer is an ancient but hithertoo reliable HP Deskjet 710c.
Last week it stopped printing Word documents. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Office and the printer without success. The printer happily prints web pages, emails and Excell. Word produces the appropriate print preview and page set up is fine but the printer produces only blank pages (of the correct number).
Can anyone recall a similar problem and more to the point how to fix it please.

In simpler days a panacea for most Word difficulties was to close Word, find NORMAL.DOT and delete it!

Next time up the strife is over, Word having made a new normal.dot for itself.

Merely uninstall/reinstalling apparently leaves some files alone including this one, so frustration builds.
