Problem playing video in WMP

I wonder can anyone help me with a problem.

When I go to play a video clip from a website which uses WMP, it brings up the player as if it is going to play it and then it just drops out and goes back to the page that I called the clip up from - no error message nothing. It has started doing this just recently for no reason that I can figure out - it was doing it on WMP 10 so I upgraded to 11 but its the same. I have done a system restore but has made no difference. Any ideas welcome.
