Problem with Outlook 2002

ive been having troubles with my Outlook, i cannot recieve emails, and the testing dont work at all. i a bit puzzled since it worked a couple of days ago and only the last 2 days it hasnt be functioning properly, its getting quite annoying.

everytime when i click on Send/Recieve it takes about 15secs and then it pops up a message saying the following

Task 'POP3 - Sending and Receving' repoted error (0x80042108: 'Outlook is unable to connect to you incomming (POP3) e-mail server. If you contiune to recive this message, contact your server administrator or the ISP.'

i have no idea (thats why im tryin to see if you guys know!) why its not working, its been working fine before the last 2 days as i said.

my ISP is Freeserve if that matters with broadband if that matters too.

i recently installed Nortons System Works 2004, if that also matters??

also i disalbed Nortons and tried it again and it still doesnt work, thought thats why the 'Disable' function was there for....

Go to the MS website and select support\knowledgebase on the left hand side.
Then choose Outlook 2002 and type in the article number or your error number. I would put in the link but experience tells me it won't work.

There is an explanation as to why Norton is causing this.

I had the same message for a short while yesterday with my BT mail. It must have been a server problem, as it resolved itself after a few hours. Using Outlook 2003.

My other e-mail addresses with Tiscali and Pipex worked OK. However, at times, Pipex has also given that message when they have server problems.

I have no experience with Norton System Works, but, here is the link referred to by alcudia; it may help.

I use Outlook 2002 to receive mail from Plus Net & Tiscali accounts. I have never had any problems with the Plus Net accounts but often get the same message as you with the Tiscali accounts.

It must therefore be an intermittent server problem as the downloads take place at the same time confirming that my side is working fine.
