Problem loading Dragon Naturally Speaking 8

  JohnHS 17:22 29 Dec 05

Having installed the program when I open it the following message appears

"The file C:\WINDOWS\speech\speech.dll is version Naturally speaking requires version to run reliably. You may be able to correct this problem by restarting your computer or by reinstalling Naturally Speaking before launching it next time."

I have tried both options unsuccessfully.

The Dragon website says download spchapi.exe from, which I have done, but when I double click on that file Windows cannot open it. On my computer the file is shown as SPCHAP[1]

As a very non-expert where do I go from here?

I think you'd need to copy the SPCHAP file to the C:\WINDOWS\speech\ folder to enable DNS to work.I seem to recall having similar probs a couple of years back with DNS5 and resolved it via this method.
