Problem with letter between r and t in alphabet

Over the lat week I have been experiencing weird problem with my computer. I am uing window 98 E and a you can ee there i no letter appearing for me.
Other ymptom include when I open a folder it will flah through the content of it own accord. There are time when the pointer flicker.
I clicked "My Computer" and then a "Shortcut to my Computsser ssasppesasred. As sssyoss scan ee now the letter s i going madS!(Like I ssam)when I tried to delete thi another one appeared then another one.
I find that folder flah and at tartup there i a ringing noie from my modem. When I am crolling through a lit it decide to do thi itelf and i putting me mad.
I have scasnned for virue assnd cannot find asny

If this isn't a joke and I'll presume it isn't. Can you get hold of another keyboard and try it before anything else is suggested.

The s part of your problem sounds like keyboard bounce. Can you borrow another keyboard and see if that works normally?

How did you get the s in 'Rucksack' to display properly?

Sounds like your entire system may be broken, have you booted into DOS to see if DOS does the same, this may eliminate the fact that Windows is being stressed again.
