Problem installing Brother laser printer

Have a Brother HL-1240 laser printer which have been using for past couple of years without any problems. Recently changed computers and found that no longer had the installation CD. Went to Brother website and downloaded relevant software but computer keeps responding that the "specified location does not contain information about your software". Can anybody help?

If you have changes computers- perhaps operating systems too?
Windows XP[an NTSF system] will not run kit that operates on Win 95/8[DOS]based systems.

Take out any dprinter srivers that are currently installed[Start/Printers-Faxes] right click on icon press delete.

Now plug printer in.
Windows will say 'Found New Hardware'-disc or list.
You select -'list' and navigate to the printer make nd and then printer model[ore one nearest].
That should do it.
