Problem with IE6 when upgrading Acrobat Reader

  AirToob 15:25 29 Feb 04

I accessed a website with PDF files that needed Acrobat Reader 6.0. I downloaded and installed this. However IE6 didn't use the new version, so I (foolishly?) uninstalled Acrobat Reader 4 which was there previously, and associated PDF files with Acrobat Reader 6.0. I *can* download PDF files and view them properly using the new reader; but now I can't view them directly within IE6 as I used to. I just get an icon in the window.

How can I get IE6 to treat the new version of Acrobat as a normal viewing plugin?

Any help greatly appreciated...

In Adobe Reader, Edit/Preferences, Internet, tick "Display PDF in browser".

I had a look, and this selection was already ticked...

Uninstalling Acrobat Reader 4 could well have removed something that Acrobat Reader 6.0 needed. I used Add/Remove to repair Acrobat Reader 6.0, and now it works. As simple as that.
