Problem formatting large HD

I recently tried to format a 80G HD as 1 partition (FAT32) using Win98 bootdisk. The format screen reported that it was only formatting 10G. When I partitioned it into 2 40G drives there was no problem.
Why can't I format as a single 80G partition? I thought FAT32 could handle far bigger HD sizes than that

W98 fdisk won't go above 64Gb & I'm not sure Format does either. Try an updated Fdisk from click here Better still download free Ranish click here\part it'll do it all in one with lots of format choices & boot manager. Run it & type A to make a boot disc, boot from it & there you go. It'll serve you for future OS too
