I am trying to extract Windows XP Service Pack 1a. I want to do this so I can slipstream it with Win xP Pro.

I have downloaded it five times today via a BB connection. Every time I extract it I get an error message 'File Corrupt' I can't beleive the file on the Mirosoft site is corrupt so any suggestions??

what location did you download it to? Or did you just go to windows update?

I downloaded it a folder on my C Drive. I didn't use Windows Update.

I installed this on my wife's PC 3 timnes over the week-end as part of a total rebuild (other problems I won't bore you with). SP1, then all the other updates all installed without a hitch. I can only think that you have something corrupt on your system which is stopping the update. As you will have no idea when this might haver happened, restore points are unlikely to resolve this issue, but you may find that the repair facility on your install CD will crack it for you.
The other alternative - why not try to install directly reather than saving it first?

I have found someone with an identical problem on another forum. He solved his problem by downloading with Mozilla. What's that???

Downloaded file using Mozilla Firefox. File extracted no problem. I really like the Firefox browser so I think I'll keep it.

A wonderful program called XPCreate click here will go out to download and slipstream SP1 plus all updated hotfixes for you automatically. It come with a download manager.

Really a magic program if you want to update your XP CD.
