Problem downloading large e-mails

  Newuser1280 10:53 31 May 03

Outlook Express is trying to download 4 messages. My connection is slow unfortunately, and the first message, at least, is probably a large one. It is still downloading after an hour when the the server disconnects without any of the messages arriving! Is there any way round the problem?

Try using a web based e-mail provider such as Hotmail. You can see the size of your e-mail before opening it and then if it's so large that it's going to take an hour to download then reboot your internet connection to take advantage of the full time allowed before your cut off period.

You could use a utility, such as pop3 scan mailbox here at click here this utility allows you to check your mail, first line, subject heading and who sent it, on the server before dloading and if ness. delete any mail from the server (such as really long messages like yours).

There are others out there, but I've used this for years and find it great.

Of course, this only helps if you decide you don't want the email, but at least it gives you the choice. Hope this helps.

Another prog to try is mailwaher (click here) - lots of options with what to do with your mail.

Another web site from where you can check your messages is mail2web.

It would seem that someone is sending you a message with a very large attachment.
