problem displaying HotEqns

I have a problem displaying HotEqns - a java applet used by many sites for showing mathematic equations. I am running the latest version of Internet explorer and have the latest version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). However, when I load up a page including a HotEqn, the applet refuses to load and then if i try to refresh or go back, my explorer crashes. What can i do to view them, it used to work but i can't see why it doesn't anymore. Please help!

Further readind suggests you may have the wrong version of HotEqns for the version of Java.

Hi Graham,
thanks for your input, however,

it seems to me that it is unecessary to install the software for HotEqns given on the site and that it should display anyway as its part of the java api. It seems that the software on the site is for developers who want to write their own HotEqns.

am i missing something?
