First things to do: 1. Open Task Manager to see what is running 2. Run your anti virus and antispyware programs for a complete scan 3. Tell us what the "yellow light" indicates as most desktops have a green power light and a red drive light - or are you referring to the CD/DVD drive light? In the case of the latter being on check the drive has no disk in it.

The title of your post - problem connecting to internet- does that mean the pc runs OK until you try and go online?

What operating system and browser/s are you using, what modem/router arrangment, make of pc? Plenty of free hard drive space and RAM, ran windows Disk Cleanup, Disk Error Checker and defrag lately?

As already advised check Task Manager to see what's running, how many items showing and cpu% usage, bottom of page in Task Manager, also have a look in Windows Event Viewer, to see what recurring problems, if any are showing.

Have you tried scheduling a boot time scan of your pc with Avast?
