Problem of compatibility: AVG Free v8 and PC Tools

I recently upgraded to AVG Free v8.0.100 and find it works as well as AVG v7.5 – except that when I press UPDATE NOW the green bar shows AVGINFOVI.ctf ½ and locks, followed by the message “Connection failed”.
I also run PC Tools Firewall Plus v2.0.0.25 (Windows firewall is disabled) and have confirmed that all the AVG files are allowed. However, if I disable PC Firewall temporarily, the AVG update works smoothly! The PC Firewall shows 5 allowed AVG programs: AVG Alert Manager, Basic Interface, Control Centre, E-Mail Scanner and Update downloader.
Has anyone else come across this problem? Is there a solution? If not, can anyone recommend another free Firewall program?
Any help would be much appreciated,
Peter

Ok with ZA for me as well.Though if you want to keep yuor existing one you will probably have to add alot more avg services to your firewall

Many thanks eedcam - your link has helped me solve the problem! I had looked at FAQ earlier, but missed the relevant section.
