The PSU on my desktop fried yesterday so I?m using my laptop to access the internet. The internet connection is set to redial automatically if the connection is dropped. However when the system redials the connection I can no longer download email or access the internet. If I reboot it then connects OK. I?m using Win XP Home SP1 and the modem is an Action-Tec PCMCIA V.90. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I think that I have now fixed the problem. It appeared to be the PCMCIA slot not being properley recognised as a COM port. I uninstalled that and the modem and after reinstallation it now seems to work OK.
