Hi I have just fitted a second Floppy drive but I cannot get it to work.
It doesn’t show in my computer and it’s a new floppy.
I exchanged the original lead from the board to a double connection type.
There isnt a bleep of light on start up from the floppy it may be a dud.
Checked wireing and its fine.
The original works fine where have I gone wrong.

Are you saying you have 2 floppies? If you are then thats probably the problem.

I thought you could have 2 floppy drives A & B hence the hard drive default being C.
Are you sure you have the cable the right way around on each drive? and the right one in the motherboard. I personally cant remember which way round it goes, but I think the twist might have to go between the 2 drives.

yes a second drive not a wiz kid at this.
by the way you said that I may not be able to fit a second one.

The B drive I believe was the 5.25" floppy drive which you don't get anymore.

B is normally reserved for a 5¼ inch drive I think.

I put the twist in the last drive so I could try it in the middle.

Anyone know if you can do this? I've had a look at my floppy disk cable and it appears to me that the connections are different on the second connector, if so then you can't use it.

Just out of curiousity, why do you want 2 floppy drives anyway?

ha well its not wasted as I am building my own PC very soon.

It should be perfectly teasible t fit two 3.5 floppy drives, the twist is there to differentiate between A nad B drives.

Make sure both drives are enabled in BIOS and bot are et to 1.44Mb

I have paid good money for Win 3.0 3.1 3.11 Win 95 and many program such as paint Excel Word and many more. I will use the ones I make and put the rest away who knows they may be worth a few bob some day. I have a set cant remember what at the moment but they cost short of £1000 in their day they were for engineering I think still in original folders.
It’s a hobby and I have different PCs for all versions of Windows.
Also DOS related Dos 5 DoS 6.22 any thing I can get my hands on but the price has to be right.
