Problem with Active Sync Install

Win XP Pro, SP3
I am having difficulty installing Microsoft Active Sync 4.5.
Having DL'd the setup file from Microsofts site, when I run the installation file, I get an error message:

Windows Installer
The feature you are trying to use is on a
CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not
available.
Insert the 'Microsoft ActiveSync' disk and click OK.

I am unable to get any further because I do not have the requested ROM.

Exactly the same thing happens if I use the setup file DL'd from FileHippo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think I got it on a CD with a acer pda it then allows updating it. So you may need to buy the first one. Not sure on it or get it with Hardware as I did

Beta,
I have tried using it both directly and via the dsktop. The results in both cases are the aove error message.

Woodchip,
Microsoft Active Sync is free from Microsoft and other sites. I have used it in the past without a disc. I don't know why I am getting this error message.
