Hi All,
My friend has got 6.1 sound onboard his Gigabyte GA-VAX mobo. He has just bought a set of 5.1 speakers. The connection is via three jacks to the back of the comp. However, the m/b has only 3 sockets, one for line in, one for mic, one for line out as per normal, unlike the sockets on a 5.1 card which has 5 sockets. Where do the jacks go into on his m/b as there is only one line out socket?

if only using onboard line out best you are gonna get with a 3mm jack to 2xphonos is pro logic surround.will need to buy a 5.1 sound card.

look for an optical out spdif (sony phillips digital interface)on the back or may be internal and have to connect up to the mobo inside.the manual should tell you.

Yes, its got spdif. Will look into that. Should not have to buy an extra 5.1 sound card as it has 6.1 channels onboard. Thanks huggyg71.

Looking at the manual it has
Line Out=2 Front
Line In=2 Rear
Mic In=Centre and Subwoofer
