Printing from laptop.

We have a Dell PC witH Dell 720 printer. My daughter has a new Toshiba laptop and wants to print out homework she's done on it. We connected the printer to the laptop and it said "found new hardware" but won't print. Any ideas? Is it possible tp print out remotely whilst the printer's still connected to the PC?

Did you load the printer's driver software onto your daughter's computer?

What's that? Is it a disc? Sorry but we don't know much IT stuff at all.

"What's that? Is it a disc?"

Yes, it is a CD - which would have been supplied with the printer and used to load the drivers onto your PC.

If, however, you've 'mislaid 'the CD click here
to download drivers from the Dell website

Went to the Dell site as Clapton said but not sure if you've to pay to download printer drivers. Wasn't very clear.

Driver download is completely free from the Dell site!

So when asking for which operating system ,as her laptop's vista is it one of those we need or still XP? The options are vista 32 bit or vista 64 bit?

It's probably 32bit but check.

Right click my computer and pick properties. On this page it will tell you if you have a 32 or 64 bit operating system.
