printer stops computer

Hi everyone I have just bought a HP Photosmart 7450 printer it works well but if I turn it of when Ihave finished printing it causes the computer to freeze and I have to turn it off and rre start it. I am running w98se hope someone can help thanks

Sounds like it's the HP connection that Windows is looking for. Is it a USB

The printer you have is USB2, does your system support this mode?

If not, have you tried to download the latest drivers from hp's web site.

If you have a Full XP CD NOT a RESTORE DISK! put it in the computer at start/Run type SFC /SCANNOW press enter

Hi Woodchip I have w98se not xp I am going to install the printer onto a laptop later to see if it does the same. To The terminator I will also try to get the latest driver of the HP site thanks Bowl

Have been onto HP site checked my set up and I have the latest driver also been online to a technical person called Pamela who has told me to refresh the usb root hubs by removing them from Device Manager and restarting my computer for it to reinstall them. Will try that after making a restore point first. Will let you all know what happens
