Am a brginner at all this so help please!

I wish to connect two pc's, one using windows 98 and one using XP to a laser printer with USB connection. Can anyone advice me on what to do and what cables I need? All equipment is in one room.

Getting ahead of yourself a bit, methinks. How are going to network the two PCs? Via Ethernet cable in a peer-to-peer arrangement, or via a router? P2P wireless even?

Sorry, forgot to say. They share internet access by a router. Does this help?

It clarifies the situation somewhat, which is what we need!

It's a pity that you're network is not entirely comprised of XP clients. Would be even easier then.

"you're network?" I meant your network!
