Printer Sharing problem

Two PCs are connected via ethernet and a BT home hub and a workgroup running on Vista. The printer is connected via USB to one PC and shared but nothing else is shared except the Public directory, through which files can be transferred. However, although the printer, HP Laserjet 3052 All in one, is found by the other PC, whenever the connection is attempted a message comes up "Unable to connect to printer xxxx. Make sure you are using the correct name etc" This doesn't seem to be a connection problem because the two PCs can transfer files to each other so any ideas?

Have a look at click here for installing a network printer in Vista and follow those instructions *exactly*.

These 2 points were invaluable:

4) Click the "Create a new port" radio button and leave the drop-down menu options on the default of "Local Port". Click Next.

5) A small box opens in which to enter the Port Name. Type in the path to the "shared" printer in the host PC using the format \\computername\sharename where computername and sharename are the details you noted in (2) above.

Solved my year-long (honestly) problem of non printing vista laptop on an xp network. Thanks so much.
