Printer purge problem

  HauxtonPhil 17:53 29 Nov 05

Windows XP Home. Panasonic Laser printer. Tried to print a pdf file but the output was nonsense, (random characters). Tried to stop the printing using the print monitor (Start>Printers etc), by Cancel print jobs. I cannot now print anything, as this job seems to be blocking everything. Cancel Print Jobs does nothing, switchaing off the computer and/or the printer does ot fix it. Is there any other way that I can force the print buffer to empty. It appears to be a problem on the computer side as connecting a different printer has the same problem.

As it's PC side, that may make it easier to fix. Firstly, try disabling the Spool Service and reboot.

And then use Ccleaner to cear out your temp files. You'll need to allow it to delete temp files newer than 48 hours.

Has that helped?

Can't tell until I get to the machine tomorrow, but thanks for the suggestion, I will reply when I've tried it.
