Printer Problem..please help

I am trying to install an old printer onto a relatively new pc but all is not well with a seemingly simple task......
Its a Cannon BJC-4300 and a Carrera ( no jokes please)athlon 1800 mhz. It loads ok with the driver floppies provided but when you want to print, a message says it cannot recognise the cartridge type. We have renewed it, tried again and still the same. Message also says its printing to LPT10, does this matter, I thought it should be LPT1. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Yes, it does matter. Assuming you are using a parallel cable connection, you should be printing to LPT1.

You should be able to change this by going to Control Panel; Printers; and "Right Clicking" the icon. Select "Properties"; "Details", and select LPT1, as you required port.

Let us know if that helps please.

Just given one of those away not worth the price of the 13amp plug. Although you are right it should be LPT1
