Printer printing rubbish

  PurplePenny 10:47 16 Apr 03

Some friends' printer keeps printing pages of special characters - dipthongs, german O's, French E's etc. The document looks OK in Word but when they print the document does not come out - only the pages of special characters. The only way to stop it is to turn theprinter off.

I thought that it might be a virus and advised them to get some anti-virus software (and keep it updated). They've bought Norton, updated the definition files and run a scan. It didn't find anything.

I'm out of advice for them so I've come to you :-)

It sounds like a faulty Printer cable or a corrupt printer driver, PurplePenny.

Thanks Maj. They have reinstalled the driver with no success so I've passed on the message to try a new printer cable.
