PRINTER PREVENTS STARTUP

I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A LEXMARK VALUE PHOTO ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER, MODEL X3480. IF THE PRINTER IS CONNECTED TO THE PC AT STARTUP, THE INITIAL STARTUP SCREEN FREEZES. IF THE PRINTER IS THEN DISCONNECTED, THE STARTUP PROCEDURES CONTINUE AS NORMAL. AFTER STARTUP, RECONNECTING THE PRINTER DOES NOT AFFECT THE PC.
ANY SUGGESTIONS HOW TO OVERCOME THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE MOST WELCOME.

1. turn your caps lock off (considered as shouting if pringing in caps)

2.Refresh USB Ports
In device manager Uninstall EVERYTHING under the heading USB,
reboot the PC let XP find and install new hardware.

Sorry I shouted! Having followed your advice, the printer no longer prevents startup. Many thanks!
