Hi got a espon 440, pc doesn't seem to pick it up.
I've installed the correct drivers and connected the p/cable to the pc. But the pc still won't pick the printer. The self test on the printer s/w
shows no commuinication?. Printer works fine on friends laptop. Is it the pc setup or the bios or is it the printer. Can any one help

Sounds like you have either a faulty cable or you have not installed the status Monitor software correctly.. Try un-installing all the Epson software then re boot then re try installing the software that came with the printer making sure it covers the windows version you have. If that does not cure it then try another cable either parallel or USB. Also make sure within the settings/properties of the printer that it is set to LPT1 or USB

go to cmos and set the LPT port ECP/EPP

PS it could be a faulty port in which case you would have to get a ISA parallel port card £10 from PCworld the PCI card cost more than you could get a C42 printer

May sound daft but do you ahve any red lights now showing. may be out of ink. won't work if either black or colour ink lights on.

do you have a scanner installed on this PC ? Check in the background apps for port monitoring s/ware. This can block the port even with the scanner disconnected.

ditto the check LPT port settings from woodchip

look in the set up web connection in control and advanced .make sure you are on the right printer port.try starting the computer when the printer is connected and switched on i have had this printer for a while and although i bought the daughter a c 62 the photos are no better than the 440 .and the cartridges are chipped
