Printer driver installation problem

I deleted the printer driver which had developed an error, then dowloaded a new one from the Canon Web site. I now find that I can't install it because it complains that I have something in the printer queue.

Without a printer driver to access the printer queue I am a bit stuck.

What can I do?

try installing in safe mode

have you tried uninstalling the printer using device manager then insalling the driver when the found new hardware wizard asks for it.

If XP run restore to old date and see if printer works

I will try Citadel's suggestion first...

Tried Citadel's idea. No joy. I will now try to remember how to start in safe mode. Windows help seem sto tell you all about it except how to do it!

I'm uding W2K by the way.

The installation program ran through without a hitch after I had started in safe mode but having started up normally the printer is not to be found in the list of printers. :(
